About Holiday Inn Express Brand

Founder of the Holiday Inn Family of Brands
The original Holiday Inn chain of hotels was founded in 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee, by Kemmons Wilson to provide inexpensive family accommodation for travellers within the USA.
Wilson initially came up with the idea after a family road trip to Washington, DC, during which he was disappointed by the quality and consistency provided by the roadside motels. The name Holiday Inn was given to the original hotel by architect Eddie Bluestein as a joke, in reference to the Bing Crosby movie.
The brand name Holiday Inn is now owned by IHG who in turn license it out to franchisees and third parties. There are now over 2000 Holiday Inn hotels globally.
Holiday Inn Express is a mid-priced hotel chain. Our focus is on offering a clean, fresh, uncomplicated approach to a value for money stay. We provide you with “…everything you need when you’re on the move.”
